La Curandera
Oil on canvas
36 x 36
Curandera: a female folk healer or medicine woman
This painting was inspired by the true account of an Albuquerque policeman suffering intense PTSD after he had shot and killed someone. He said to the curandera: “I need you to help get this off me.”
Since he refused the curandera’s request to blindfold him, he was able to see something come out of his chest, go around the room, and then go out the open window.
